Athens-based electro-pop band Yip Deceiver will releaese a new EP titled YPD E.P. on October 9th through New West Records, to be followed by a second EP and a full-length album next summer. Prior to all of that, however, they have just released a digital split single via New West subsidiary Normaltown Records wherein they team up with former Athens resident Ruby the RabbitFoot (Ruby Kendrick) to cover a pair of huge ‘90s hits.
Yip Deceiver take on Jennifer Paige’s “Crush,” with Ruby guesting, while she covers Madonna’s “Take a Bow” with background vocals from Yip Deceiver’s Nicolas Dobbratz. “I’ve always loved ‘Take a Bow.’ It’s from the era of my musical awakening,” says Ruby. “‘Crush’ was released a few years later… I remember it would repeat on the radio so often at the pool we used to visit. Both songs remind me of a wonderful time.”
Ruby the RabbitFoot recently moved to Los Angeles from Athens, and is currently working on her followup to her 2014 album New As Dew. Yip Deceiver are currently on a North American tour opening for Detroit band Electric Six, which brings them to The EARL in Atlanta on Oct. 7th. The tour takes them to Europe for three weeks beginning Nov. 14th.
