Latter day Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge (pictured) and percussionist Marc Quinones join onetime bandmate Warren Haynes on the ABB/Gov’t Mule guitarist’s forthcoming third solo album, Ashes and Dust. The song that Burbridge and Quinones guest on, “Spots of Time,” was co-written by Haynes and Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, and was performed live by the Allman Brothers in recent years but never recorded by them.
Haynes’ primary backing musicians on the album, which is in more of a soulful acoustic vein than he’s generally known for, are the members of New Jersey-based Americana/newgrass band Railroad Earth. Other guests on Ashes and Dust include Grace Potter, Shawn Colvin and harmonica player Mickey Raphael.
Concord Records will release Ashes and Dust on July 24th.
