Von Grey Stirs Emotions with Video for ‘Katie’

Lead single is from 'Panophobia,' the six-song EP due on August 14

Though the oldest of the four siblings in the Atlanta-based indie-alt group von Grey is only 20, the group has already appeared on Letterman and Conan, toured nationally with the Indigo Girls and Rusted Root, and performed at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, SXSW, Gathering of the Vibes and Shaky Knees. Last year, Annika (vocals, violin, guitar, keys), Fiona (vocals, guitar, violin, percussion), Petra (keys, electronic percussion, background vocals) and Kathryn (cello, bass pedals, keys, background vocals) earned positive reviews for the EP Awakening, which PopMatters called “strange, ethereal pop music, unencumbered by genre.”

This year, the sisters continue to explore and push boundaries, tackling the tough issue of same-sex domestic violence in the video for “Katie,” the lead single from the forthcoming EP Panophobia. A statement accompanying the release explains that “by sharing this video with the world, von Grey strive to shatter illusions surrounding same-sex domestic violence so that those affected by the issue can find their way to safety, support, and a greater sense of strength.”
