From the same crew that staged January’s all-star tribute to Gregg Allman at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, in November that venue will now host the similar tribute “One More for the Fans! – Celebrating the Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd.”
Besides a performance from the current lineup of that iconic Southern Rock band, the show is scheduled to include Trace Adkins, Robert Randolph, Alabama, Blackberry Smoke, Gregg Allman, Jamey Johnson, Peter Frampton, Charlie Daniels, Cheap Trick, Jason Isbell, John Hiatt, moe., Aaron Lewis, Warren Haynes and Donnie Van Zant, with others expected to be added as the Nov. 12th concert nears. As with the Allman tribute show, Don Was will lead the house band, and the entire evening will be filmed for future release.
The Fox Theatre holds a special place in the hearts of Lynyrd Skynyrd and their fans, as it was the venue where the band recorded their One More From the Road live album in 1976. The current lineup of the group includes original guitarist Gary Rossington, vocalist Johnny Van Zant (younger brother of original singer Ronnie Van Zant), former Blackfoot frontman Rickey Medlocke and original Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt.
Tickets for “One More for the Fans! – Celebrating the Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd” are on sale now via www.foxtheatre.org.
