SMF turns to Kickstarter for education

Add the Savannah Music Festival to the organizations turning to the innovative website to raise funds for worthy causes. SMF sought $25,000 to fund its Swing Central Jazz high school big band program and at press time had nearly reached that amount. Swing Central Jazz was developed six years ago and has become “the Pro Bowl of high school jazz band competitions” (according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel). It’s a national initiative that invites 12 high-school jazz bands from across the country (chosen by audition) to travel to Savannah to work with some of the world’s most esteemed jazz masters and college-level educators.
